Quick Breakfast Recipes With Oatmeal

Make quick breakfast meals by adding some extra flavor to an old favorite with these easy oatmeal recipes. These simple breakfast recipes take only a few minutes to prepare and are a delicious way to add a healthy grain like oatmeal to your diet.

There is a large selection of flavorful oatmeal varieties on the market these days. Unfortunately there is also a lot of sugar added to these prepackaged items and some of them are not as natural as you may want them to be. By preparing your own plain oatmeal and adding some simple, natural additions, it is much easier to control the amount of sugar that you are consuming, as well as, the quality of the ingredients

For these easy recipes, use plain oatmeal (instant, rolled, or steel-cut oats). Just follow the package directions when preparing the oatmeal. All you need to do is add these additions on top of your cooked oatmeal and swirl them into your hot cereal and enjoy.

Stir in any nut butter that you like into the oatmeal

Try a combination of raisins, cinnamon, and a light sprinkle of brown sugar

Add a little texture and sweetness top with some chopped pecans and diced apples

A spoonful of plain, non-fat Greek yogurt and diced peaches with a dusting of nutmeg

Try some ground flaxseed along with some dried or fresh, pitted and cut-up cherries

Plain, low-fat whipped cream cheese with a fruit spread of your own choosing

Canned, crushed pineapple (drain before adding to cereal), shredded coconut, and some chopped walnuts

Blueberries and sliced almonds drizzled with some maple syrup

Cinnamon or berry applesauce makes a nice sweet addition

Sliced strawberries and a sprinkling of mini chocolate chips

Add some canned pear slices (drained and cut up) along with some cinnamon, a spoonful of honey, and some cream
