Implementing A Weekly Food Budget

By Mike Smithy

Many people are having a rough time financially and are trying to save money any way that they can. The cost of groceries is increasing and it is more important now than ever to create a weekly food budget. It takes some time to plan your meals for the week and stick to a strict budget. The amount of money that you can save by using this method is really amazing.

The first thing to remember is to eat before you go to buy groceries. This way you are not hungry and will not buy something on impulse. You need to bring a list and stick to it. Do not add to it and buy a bunch of extras. This defeats the purpose of a list.

Every grocery store will have a sale paper and you can also plan your list by stocking up on sale items. This saves a lot of money in the long run and it makes more sense to buy it on sale.

Using coupons can also lower the cost of food. You can find these in newspapers and magazines. They are almost the same as cash and can help you to stretch your budget.

When making your list, it is easier to put an estimated price beside of each item. This will help you to keep track of what your total should be. You may sometimes have to adjust the prices a little bit, but it is more of a guideline for you. It takes common sense to know when something is a good price and if you should buy an extra items.

You will save a lot of money by implementing a food budget and it is definitely worth the time that it takes to make one. Every penny saved is important in this economy and you will be surprised how quickly you will adapt to this way of thinking. - 30289
