Kitchen Renos Are The Number One Investment In Your House

By Matthew Kerridge

Kitchen renovations are the best investment in your home. So, if you want to increase the value of your home, this is the best room to begin in. There are different things you can do to improve the room itself which will require a small investment, or you can gut the entire room and start from scratch.

The former will be quite expensive, but will really increase the value of your home. However, there are other options that won't cost you nearly as much and can still bring up the value somewhat and still look beautiful.

For instance, simply changing the doors of the cupboards rather than everything in its entirety will save you lots of money. You will still benefit from a whole new look but without the extreme costs. However, even this can be too expensive for some people. Well, for them, there are still other options such as applying a couple of coats of paint on the cupboard doors and installing new handles and other hardware.

Even this will freshen up the room and give it a whole new look. You can even go a step further and paint the backsplash as well. That's right, you can paint the ceramic backsplash. All you need to do is sand the ceramics down so that they are dull, prime them and paint them a color of your choice.

It is recommended to change the counter top. This is not as pricey as you may believe it to be. Of course, there are so many choices to pick from, like laminate or marble, granite, concrete and ceramics. If you are a do-it-yourselfer, you can even install a granite-tile counter on your own. The look is outstanding and is only a fraction of the cost of a solid granite counter.

Changes like those above are recommended to bring your room up to date. But, you can also change and upgrade your floor. A ceramic floor is always sought after in a room with so much traffic. Again, if you are handy, you can save a lot of money by doing it on your own. And, you may want to consider radiant heating for the ceramics. It is always comfortable to have heated floors.

But, nowadays, many are leaning toward hardwood in their kitchens. This is mainly due to the coziness and timeless style that hardwood has to offer, as opposed to other flooring options.

The bottom line is that any updating you do to your kitchen, you will get most of the investment back, if not make a profit. - 30289
